Search Engine Blips
Everyone working in SEO knows this: you are in a shady business all the time. White is gray, gray is black and black is white. All blurred and uncertain. You use some tricks because you know they work and abandon others if they don’t. Quite rarely you do actually know what produced which result as there is simply no time to set up a clean experiment and you can not afford using your techniques in a sequence to be able to properly analyse their results, you have to use them in a pack.
It seems we are all in need of systematic knowledge base and we all have none. Even though an attempt to build one may seem fruitless ou can’t stop asiring to this and you simply can not stop thinking.
I’ve noticed that from time to time on my usually blank radar screen appear some blips of understanding. These are sudden flashes of obviousness that at times could become rather revealing. Let me explain what I mean by that: it is not the kind of speculative knowledge we are all too happy to share (read: the usual SEO blah), neither it is a technique that can be shared and used by others. Instead it is a sudden realisation of simple facts that were under your eyes all the time and therefore escaped your attention.
However obvious and banal these facts may seem, when put together in a heap they can potentially produce a critical mass needed to stimulate my thinking process (don’t know about yours). I’ve been thinking of writing them down on paper since long time ago but why not to use my wonderful blog for this purpose instead? So I am opening a new Search Engine Blips section where I’ll be placing a short notes on each Search Engine which I consider to be plain facts (not interpretations, not speculations, not theories, just facts as short and comprehencible statements). I know it is egotistic to just throw things out at you but I really hope that eventually with your help this section will be able to get a kind of criticall mass and could become a reference point for building new SEO tactics and SEO techniques.
